Hello everyone, i have been in the hobby for one year and i am becoming soo addicted! I started 1 year ago with a 33G tank and i was hooked to the hobby, switching to a 180G tank and now i am starting a FOWLR tank for my room... Everything is in the process, i am hoping of finishing the tank in the 2 weeks to come.
The dimensions are 36x36x24 but actually, the builder made a mistake and make it 37x36x24... Its having an euro-brace (half of it maybe), and the glass is 1/2 thick.
I am going with a fake sand bed on this one, already bought the starboard and will be buying the glue this week.
So right now, i have bought a Geisemann basic pendant light 150W. I got a good deal on it and thats going to be all the light needed for the tank. I prefer the look of the MH. I will probably get some dead spot, but its ok, i dont think its going to look really bad anyways.
The tank is made to have a closed loop with 2 drains of 1.5". The main pump is going to be a Sequence Dart pump and a 4way oceans motions wavemaker. On my return pump, a Gen-x PCX40, there will be a reefrat for a good surface flow.
Due to a small working place under the tank, i will only have a 28G sump. Nothing fancy, only 2 separations, one for the LR and the other for the return pump.
Other than that, i was thinking of trying an old Deltec skimmer APF600 but after comparing to the H&S, i gave the Deltec to my brother and bought the H&S instead.
Will also have a phosban reactor with Ecophos media and an Ozonizer 100mg with ORP controller from Red Sea.
Basicallly, its going to be the same system as my reef. I have been planning this tank for over a month, but as most reefer, financial problem is always present when making a new tank... so i have to go slowly
Enough writing, will give you guys/girls some pictures
Here's a picture of my first tank, my 33G tank in my room:
The tank:
4 Holes on the bottom of 1" for the closed loop, will be using a 4 way to have flow all over hopefully, if not maybe a 5 way too.
FITTINGS!!! i like that so much, will make it all grey! I might have some left over, but better having some left over than not enough
Tank IN PLACE!!!
Its flush with my working table, thats what i wanted! I will have to build the stand, probably be the smae color as my table. The stand is made of 1.5" square beam. You can see the skimmer next to it.
Yesteday, i passed almost the hole night to transfer my rocks in a 65G instead of using 3 rubbermaid tank of 32G. Since my tank is not ready yet, i installed the skimmer on the 65G and that will help my rocks keeping alive.
Its having right now 3300GPH in the tank to make sure there is a strong flow all over. Put an aquaclear 500 for more flow on the surface. Here's the result after 6 hours. I was afraid of using an Aquabee pump, but in the end, i was very please by it performance. As you can see, i am a big fan of H&S skimmer
