Fish seem to be settling in pretty well. Few anthias I got, did not seem to do well and disappeared over a few days. But rest seem to be good now. Only thing I noticed on them was maybe a scratch on a side, nothing big, but sort of like few scales ruffled and then next day they would be gone. Not sure is something was attacking them during sleep to cause that.
I do also see scars/wounds on both skunk tilefish, weirdly in exactly same spot on a side on both of them, but they seem to be coming out from rock work pretty often and eagerly eating, so hopefully that will just go away. Tank is enclosed completely, so shouldn't be any escapes from these in the future.
Rest of the fish are doing well and seem to be eating. Tangs are devouring nori, although my hope of them eating pom pom gracilaria are probably not happening
I have a piece in the tank, but while it is getting smaller I think it might just be falling apart or something versus them eating it. That's the macro algae in the sump atm, along with a string or chaeto, but if nothing wants to eat it, I will probably gradually switch to chaeto or it will overtake it pom pom
One of the tangs seems to be an engineer tang and keeps moving pebbles from the little grotto it lives in out on top of rocks, can see little white pebbles everywhere...
This goby loves this spot, but comes out and sits on the rocks as well.
Top Shelf had this older pajama for a bit, decided to take it in as well last time I was there.
Aside from fish.. currently designing and 3D printing a little carbon holder to go over the lid of the skimmer to cut down on the smell. Bag over works fine too, but it's a bit messy. This solution hopefully will contain carbon a lot better.
And finally started doing water changes to control just phos and nitrate for now and quickly discovered few annoyances in the process that I've been fixing.
First the drain / refill solution was not great. Garden hose and Sicce utility pump do not make for a quick water change hehe. So I switched to a 1" braided vinyl tubing, which increased drain process a lot. And got sicce adv 10 pump, which refills 55g in just a few minutes.
Next on the related things on the list to fix, will be to add a second 55g barrel to the RO/DI station in the garage, so I could have 110g of filtered water ready, as right now I have to fill 55g barrel upstairs to 2/3-3/4 way up, wait for more water to be made and pump water to completely fill salt barrel. Would like to do that all in one shot and also seems like a good idea to have more filtered water on hand in case I have to do a big water change, etc.
