Set up tank today, 10 lbs. Aragonite reef sand, 11 lbs. uncured live rock, and 1 lbs. live sand, this is what they suggested at local fish store. Should look good after water clears up very cloudy. Looking at about 90 days before adding anything else, So they say. Love to hear any suggestions you might have.

This is where you start researching what you want to keep.

What kind of fish do you want? What kind of corals? What kind of inverts? Do you want this to be a speices only tank?

Surf around the board and other sites to help you figure out what kind of living matter you want.

Also, I am sure we have many suggestions for you if you just tell us some of your ideas.

Also again . . . it shouldn't take 90 days for a 14 gallon to cycle. Do a 10-20% water change every week to get the die off from the rock out of the tank. Also, right before every water change, chck your parameters using a test kit from home or sometimes your LFS does it for you.

Should only take about a month or so.

When you are fully cycled, add your clean up crew or maybe half of what you plan. If they all survive, add the rest. Then maybe go with a fish and a couple corals. Ad slowly because in a nano, things can change quick.
