14 to 16 inch worm

well to say i was horrified to see this in my tank ,any idea what it is i think its a bobbit worm

My guess is that it is a Nereis or Neanthes I doubt that it would have killed something. Mostly a beneficial scavenger.
 
Not a bobbit worm. Doesn't look like one and if it didn't lunge at you at some point then I wouldn't say bobbit worm.
 
True bobbits are in the polychaete family Eunicidae, genus Eunice. They don't show up in tanks because they don't live in rock & are too deep. This is in the same family & genus but even though they look alike it's not a true bobbit.
 
Oh please, what a sensational rag...."It can sting a person and even cause permanent numbness if not death!" What a load of nonsense!
