14 year old's tank

I dont think many kids have a large tank but I do. And was very lucky. Well it all started in august when my dads boss was asking about me and my dad told him about me being in this awesome hobby. So my dads boss started saying they have a bug tank which they dont use and if we want it we can have it. Well of course I told my dad yes right away. About a week after that we went and picked it up. We set it up in the basement and did the pluming and all that fun stuff. Filled it up with water. After that we drained cleaned it with vinigar like 10 gallon of it. We took it into the living room and and found a place for it. Filled it up with 120lbs of sand and only 20lbs of caribian live rock. Cycled it for a while. Got alot of fish and non died still all alive. Then only 1 month later I saw a post on a reef club forum(C.T.A.R.S) that this person was moving and all live stock for sale. I was the first to post. Called him, only $1 per pound. I told him its all mine. Later that night I went to him. And picked alot of corals. And we wrote a list. The next day me and my dad went to pick up everything. When we were finish I went over to the guy and started paying him. But when I took the money out of my pocket he said "you know what forget about it" I was like what do you mean and I was told that I can just take everything I was shocked. I didnt know what to say over about $3,000 worth of livestock. And still today everyone in my tank is alive.

And now here are some pictures:

Great for you man that's really lucky. I think I've spent most of my cash on this hobby ever since I got into it when I was around 14. Keep up the good work!

And I almost forgot the most important person. If it hadn't been for this inspireing person I would have never got into this hobby. And this person is Mr.Rosen or here on ReefCentral known as PITSTOP. In his 7th grade science lab classroom he has a 120gallon SPS reef which he let me help him in. Befor school and sometimes during class I got to clean the collection which might sound gross but was fun for me. Even though im not in his class I still visit him and his tank almost every day.
THANKS MR.ROSEN!!!!!

Sweet set up Saltyfishy123, well done!

i like the full tank shots, nice.

Do you run carbon? If not, I have a phosban reactor you can have, stop by the lab.

Yeah, I only run Activated carbon and thats really it. i've though about getting a phos-ban reactor but right now its not in my budget.
Patrik,

you got lady luck smiling at you kiddo, now take good care of your tank, and remember, this is a hobby, your first experience was a good one, sometime down the road do the same for some one else.

very nice tank BTW

Great Looking tank. Keep us posted on the progress. Hope you stick with this wonderful hobby of ours. It provides a sense of joy to see stuff grow and flourish in your care knowing that you are doing it right.

Good luck in the future.

Way to go PITSTOP. Obviously your time and efforts in teaching have paid dividends. What a great example!!!! Doesn't seem to happen enough these days.

Salty, have you had chemistry yet in high school? This is a great practical way to apply these principles. Best of luck with the tank and your education.
