14g Biocube LED Question

Hello,

I have been reading up on the different LED options out there and it is enough to make your head swim...

The main question (have lots of questions) that I have is; what are the benefits of having a dim-able LEDs? I am thinking of getting the $145.00 kit but want to make sure that there isn't the same product for cheaper or a better one out there that I haven't seen.

Thanks,

Having a dimmable kit is very practical. You can start your new light out at a lower frequency rather then full blast, keeping your corals safe from bleaching due the the strength of the new light. This is an acclimation process many people reccommend when switching over to LEDs. Also, your color temperature is completely customizable from day to day. One day, you might like a 10000k look, the next you might like a 20000k look, it allows you to change the color of your display to whatever you like, for however long you like. Personally, I would go with the dimmable kit, it will make you happier in the long run! There may be more benefits of dimmable LEDs that I'm not aware of, but these 2 seem to be the most prevalent bonuses.

Not sure if this is the kit you were talking about, but RapidLED.com has kits specifically for the biocube 14.

Ok, I have decided to go with the retrofit LED kit from RapidLED but am kinda lost with the options for the dimmers. I am thinking that I want to have the blues and whites on dimmers separately.

I came across the Aqua Illuminations Base Controller which looks like something that I would like to use but I do not know if they are compatible. Any guidance would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!
