Hey... that's great idea. I'll have to do that so those powerheads run better. Thanks!

you'll be surprised!! but since you like the clean look like i do, it will seem as if you just bought those powerheads when you put them back in (the look). You can also open the powerheads for a deeper clean, but sometimes its not needed. I would suggest trying the soak method first. After that, run them in a 5 gallon bucket with vinegar in it if you didnt open them to get everything inside the powerhead out. I do this to mine every month or when i am about to have a lot of company over.

nice tank how long has the tank been up and running. i ask bc it sounded like the corals recently got a new home and the algae on the sand. where did you get that wrasse i have been looking all over for one. i am happy with the exqusiste (sp?) leapard wrasse that i have had for going on 17 months, but have been unable to even see let alone buy a macropharyngodon choati i belive common name is peppermint wrasse i am probably wrong on the common name but if you could post or pm me with the low down on how you got the litle guy i would like to know. thanks and awsome tank 5 stars

Brian,

I transfered my tank from a 75 to this 150 about 3 months ago. Still fighting with the algae on the sand but I can see it decreasing with the more water changes I do. My friend, Dave Botwin actually got the choati for me a while back. It's one of my favorite fish in the tank!

Mike, good to hear from you! What's the scoop on your tank?

The current one is doing all right, been a little neglected recently due to the upcoming move. Still in the process of planning out the 150, I have to get back in touch with Mike Parkis to help me out with getting it all together. BTW, the skimmer you sold me is working great, thanks!

hey one more question for you,

how long is the big island, and how long is the small island?

i assume there is like 6 inches from the top of the rockwork to the water line?

thank

Nick

Nick, I actually don't know how much live rock in there??? I've added more in little increments but if I had to guess... I'd say approximately 150lbs. It's all Fiji live rock. The big island is around 3 feet long and the small island is a little over a foot. The highest point of the rockwork is about 8" from the waterline.
