150G Stand Mod

I have a 48" X 24" Wood stand that I am hoping I can remove one of the end panels so I can install a new sump, the sump will fit into the stand but it is too long to make the turn thru the door opening. My tank is filled with water sand and rocks. The interior is hard to tell what is structural and what is cosmetic. It is a store bought type stand, can someone tell me if they have ever safely removed the end panels while the tank was filled?

Most manufactured stands are designed on minimal materials needed to support tank weight and to prevent racking.
Any modification has possibility of compromising the integrity of the stand, not that you can't modify it to accomidate that, but I'll tell you, there is no way you could get me to do any mods like that while that tank is full, no way, very dangerous.
At the very least I would drain water into barrels, and even then it would depend on what mod and stand design as to whether I'm going to stick my hands and head under that glass.
Empty stand would be no sweat to cut in a side door and deal w/ any supports needed, full tank is very sketchy.

I suppose it all comes down to whether or not you are willing to risk 150g of water and shattered glass on your floor (and on you)

Me??? Not so much.
