150g xh Stocking

Hey folks! We finally have our 150 up and running. Current livestock consists of a firefish, gsm clown pair, starry blenny, flame hawk and a 3" yellow tang.

We would like to add a dozen chromis as well as a kole and desj sailfin tang.

Thoughts?

I like the stocking list. I think eventually 12 damsels dwindles down, but depending on your rockwork, you may do well keeping multiple in that size tank. IMO I would say either a yellow tang OR a sailfin. I wouldn't do both, even in a 150. I would say yellow if it were me, and i would pick another big broad colored fish that isn't a tang.

I think you'll be fine with both tangs. I have 2 yellows, a pacific sailfin, and a bariene tang in my 187 gallon. I still plan on adding a powder blue tang.

I would skip the chromis though, I had a big group and they killed each other off. Look into fairy wrasses, as well as the melanurus wrasse (I love my melanurus). I have had good luck with odd numbered groups of yellow tailed blue damsels in my tank. I currently have 3, along with a blue devil (started with 5 of these, 1 killed all the others, but leaves the yellow tailed blues alone). They get along fine with all the other fish.

this is what i would stock,
*what youve got already*
insted of chromis i think you should add a shoal of anthias, they personally bring more colour.
another tang or maybye a large angel, although a gamble about being reef safe?
and a trio of bannerfish (the reef safe ones)

What are the dimensions of this tank? Is it a 4x24x30 "tall" 150? That could change the recommendations you're getting as to tangs.

Sailfin will get too big for your tank. Needs at least an eight foot 240 gallon aquarium to thrive. Also, the 12 chromis will more than likely dwindle down to one over time. I would suggest doing something like 6 anthias and 6 threadfin cardinalfish. Great combination IMO.
