Wow,
You are setting this one up to be a fantastic zeo reef:) Looks like you have upgraded many components, to think your previous tank is being upgraded from a Tunze Skimmer to a BK, and your lights from a Nove Extreme Pro to an ATI fixture, watch out, this maybe the beginning of a future TOTM, good luck with the build and corals change over. Are you upgrading your zeo reactor? This will be a very exciting reef, perhaps a new build thread outling the changeover is in order...? Good luck my friend, will be keeping a close eye on this one...

yes, lots have been upgraded, it has been really fun working with concept aquariums on this designs and its components.

Future TOTM, thats a dream that every reefer has. :inlove:

The zeo RX will have to be upgraded as well, I am looking at the 3l unit.

I will be keeping this thread for now, and I will update the first page to include when the new reef begins as well when the old one ended.

Thanks for the props.

well a quick picture less update.

I got water, salt, aquascape and started the zeo system last night.

so hopefully with the 14 day cycle i can start to get things stocked here quickly.

The vortech wall works like a charm, its awesome, i just need to make a plug to cover the bottom intake holes. I have a design in mind and should have this done within the next few days.

The skimmer is over flowing like mad, but I think this is due to being brand new mixed salt, and epoxy used for the aquscape.
I am chatting with Mike, the skimmer guru, and he gave me a few ideas that i will try out tonight after work.

And I cannot believe how clear starphire glass is, its way way different that I had ever expected, I am so happy with this tank.

pictures will come tomorrow, after I finish the electrical, I have amillion cords that I have to hid. :lmao:

well here is the aquascaping. I wanted to go with something abit more open than the last build.

I used acrylic rods and epoxy to hold the live rock together.

hit up Rona today and got the extenison cords and some black eggcrate from red coral, so I think within the next few days I should have all the loose ends tied up.

Looking really good John,

I like the open aquascape, very nice!~ Interesting concept with the false compartments for the Vortechs too, creative!

Man oh man, that is going to be a hell of a tank... Very well thought out, keep the updates and start a new thread already...very exciting stuff...

Thanks Perry, I am getting super stoked for this tank.

so I am still playing with the skimmer today, its not as bad as yesterday so i think its going to calm down within a day or two. Thanks for the help Mike.

got one more thing crossed of the list today, it was to cut the eggcrate for the bottom two holes of the vortech wall.

started with this

ended with this

does the fake wake wall restrict the ter intake from the vortechs reducing the flow?

I was thinking exactly same but did not ask, I thought the way of intake and outlet design of the pump both contribute to its famiously huge undertow, in another word it is the join effect of push out and pull in flow. But, I am not expect, just my feeling after some use of the pump.

I had this question asked in another fourm only a few moments ago.

the vortechs are working great, the bottom two holes are for the intake.

I had orginally had them set for consistant speed at full power, but had to reduce this to the reef crest mode, as the undertow was pulling all of the sand into the false wall.

the cycle has started slowly, only today there is small signs of diatoms.

The skimmer also came into check today, and its already pulling out thick foam.
