16" elegance and a 6" elegance touching?

I don't know the answer, but I think it would be awesome if you posted some pics of those two.

As long as they're both healthy, I see no problem in letting them touch. I've been doing it for a few years now with mine.

In the past years I never had any trouble with elegance corals touching. Even pink tipped and purple tipped and white tipped. Dosen't seem to matter. It almost seems that they like it. I know thats impossible but whatever.

The only problem, I know of, is if they're placed to close together. This will restrict the growth of the polyp. It won't effect the rate of calcium depositing, just polyp size.

Feeding time

My big one has been looking sickly for two days now! Thin tentacles, not opening up all the way, and white stringy stuff coming off the thin tentacles! Not sure if it's going to be a long term problem guess time will tell

?? EC where u at?

LOL. I'm here. I was busy upgrading to a 200gl DD tank over the weekend.

How's the big guy doing? They both look good in the pic's.

I'm not sure of the nutritional value of dehydrated krill. I always feed frozen or live food. You should be able to feed as often as you like. Especially if you feed in a different spot each time. They're pigs when healthy.

200DD nice!
What kinds of foods do you like to use?
Do you think these corals will starve if not fed directly? I have always fed mine in the past but I wonder how much food they are able to capture on there own? I always watch very closely when I feed my tank and it's usually pretty heavy feeding and I have never seen any of my elegances grab something on there own!

Wow that's an awesome elegance. I just picked one up this past friday. Small little guy the base is about 3" long. Not really sure what a happy healthy one looked like really, but was wondering if you all could tell me if this guy is doing okay.

Thanks. It's been allot of work, and the critters are a little ticket off, but every one survived.

I feed just about any small pieces of marine meat.

If everything else is perfect in their environment, I don't believe they will starve to death, if not fed directly. I am a firm believer in the importance of feeding though. You can look at a well established elegance and tell if its been fed regularly. A well established, well fed, and healthy elegance will have a thick polyp. Sometimes two to three inches, depending on the size of the coral. Those that aren't fed regularly, will have a much thinner polyp. Maybe half an inch to an inch. I also believe they are healthier when fed on a regular basis.

Give it time. They will start grabbing food from the water, after they build up their strength. It can take a very long time though. They typically won't grab tiny particles like most fish food though. I have fed elegance, that have been with me for years, simply by dropping live fresh water feeder fish into the tank, and allowing the elegance to pluck them from the water.
