175 MH upgrade

Hi everyone,
I have a 55 gal. corner tank, with a single 175 W MH pendant fixture. I am thinking of upgrading to a 250 W MH. Can I just change the ballest and bulb. Or do I need to change the socket and wireing too? I beleave it is a electronic ballest. Also would it be worth the change. I do not keep SPS's.

if you go to 250 you will need a new ballast and bulb.

if your not doing sps then i would not upgrade

Funny!!! Here is some expert advice that requires the person who started this thread to do some of his/her own research since most people here are not experts to begin with and can only offer informed opinions at best, if you ask nicely!
