i feal much better about having the fixture in my house now! thanks :)

s**** i am a little scared now. do you know why yours caught fire?

Trottman - Don't worry about it, I'm sure that there is nothing to worry about. A manufacturer would never put out a product that was dangerous - why that would be as stupid as making a car that would blow up when rear-ended! :eek1:

Oh, by the way, in the extremely unlikely event that your house burns down I can be reached at 863-1555.

Just messing with you! :D

how much money could i get out of this house fire deal.....???

this gives me an idea! :D i could build a pretty big reef and get a nice house with a couple of MILL

I got one of the same lighhts too. As to how it works, I loot at it daily, when cleaning the tank, check the fans on each end, etc. Everything seems to be working well.

I communicated with them, BY PHONE, and the girl I spoke with had no problems with her English, as I saw insome other threads on here. My ballast has two fans as well that work great!

I will say I do not care a whole lot for the quality of workmanship on the ballast. Mine was neatly done inside, but I did find some loose connections, and one terminal on a board (case Gnd) was stripped. I called them and they sent a replacement board, np. No fee charged, etc.

My bulbs look nice, actually. Geoxman was right when he said I'd like it. The newer models are vastly improved over even a year ago. I do agree with Chad Farmer (GASP!!!) that you get what you pay for, and this is not a Maristar or even close, but I also did not pay over a grand for it.

It's plugged into a GFI outlet as well. And for the record, a melting capacitor does not equal arcing and sparking. That will not happen unless something shorts out.

Change bulbs if you want to Matt, I probably will in six months. But for now I am quite happy with it.

:D

i am very happy with it too. i also check mine daily.... i dont know what i am going to do when school starts (mabe have the halides turn on at 7:00 am and go off at 6:00 pm or something.. then change it in the summer)

i like the bulbs too! i will probably leave them in for 6 months... then decide if i am going to overdrive 150 watt bulbs or buy the same bulbs from aquatraders. (what do you plan to do howard?)

Probably do the same thing Matt, change them in 6 months. I do think I will consider the bulbs from Aquatraders as well as overdriving the 150's. Might go for the 150's and keep the 175's from Aquatraders as emergency backups.

so do you think that moving the time of the mh to on at 7 am and off at 6 pm would be fine during the school year? then changing it to 10 am and off at 9 am during the summer?

i want to do this so that i can check and amke sure that the fans are going on when the light goes on
