im setting up a 65gallon soft coral/zoa/ric tank . the tank is 24" deep and was wondering if 175watt metal halide would be stong enough to keep zoa's and ric's on the bottom. or would i need 250watters? thanks.

I have a 45 gallon that is 24" deep with 175 MH and 2*65 watt PC actinics. My zoas and rics do fine at the bottom.

thanks cowcio. forgot to add there going to be 10000k 175watters with 4x95watt VHO actinics. does this sound like a good lighting combination to you guys? think it will bring out the colors well? thanks.

Sounds like a good set up for a zoa and ric tank. 250's can be a little intense for many corals unless their SPS.

You will be able to keep sps and lps in that tank if you want, no problems.

I have twin 10k 175MH's with supplemental CF's. Tank is 24" deep. My Zoas are fine, top to bottom of tank. My Ric's are about 10" down and doing fine.
