180 Build - Need Help -Closed Loop etc.

I thought I was all set on my 180 tank build, but then saw a few new things on the forum.

1. First, Miracles Aquarium sent me a quote for a 180 gallon tank that includes a coast to coast, on the back glass, which is great as there is no overflow box in the tank, so the inside of the tank is very clean looking. Unfortunately its a bit expensive.

Question: On the quote and the photo sample it is frameless but euro-braced. So even though it is without a rim, it has the braces all the way around. Is this a good way to go. I am guessing a true rimless without euro bracing would really be expensive.

2. Going with the super clean look described above, today, I read about a closed system and of course the Miracles aquarium sample photos sent to me, all have many holes drilled in the tanks for a closed system.

Now, from what I understand, you use the closed system so that you can avoid powerheads in your tank. I can see positives and negatives. No clutter of powerheads, but also not as much direction control with a closed system. However, I am guessing if the system is properly designed, and plan properly, you can have the kind of flow you need. You almost need to plan your aquascaping first so you know where to put the various holes/bulkheads in your new tank.

So, I need some advice and I need sources to read to learn more. After all, you just can't drill a bunch of holes in the bottom of the tank and hope it all works. Any help will be appreciated.

If you search on reef smac, he has a georgous totm with a hidden closed loop. You can get lots of ideas from his build thread.
