180 gal sump

Hi all,
Looking to upgrade my sump after 9 years with newer equipment and would like to hear your feedback.
Replacing the filter sock with reefmat 1200 is the first thing.
Is there a device/computer who checks your reading ? Currently using Hanna....

Are you using any type of controller like Apex or Hydros? Those both have various testing modules.

I don’t own any of the testing stuff but Apex has the Trident and Trident NP. Trident measures calcium, Alk and Mg and the Trident NP measures nitrate and phosphate. The Apex and you can also set up to dose additives to your tank based on the measurements. You do need the main Apex to be able to use it if I’m not mistaken.

Hydros doesn’t have any testing setup released yet…but sometime in the future they are coming out with the Hydros Maven which is said to test all of the big 5 in one unit. I believe the Maven, if set up like all the other Hydros equipment, can run standalone.

GHL has the IonDirector and KH Director to measure Calcium, Magnesium, Sodium, Potassium, Nitrate (Ion Director) and Alk (KH Director). Though there’s been many reported issues being able to obtain replacement probes. I’ve also seen just general user issues that seem to be unresolved. (You also need the Profilux controller and I believe the doser as well)

There is rumor that RedSea is coming out with their own controller system as well but I have no details.
