Hey everyone,
I have been away from reef keeping for about 4 years but with some financial realignment, I'm ready to get back in. I realize that these days a 180 gallon reef isn't "large" but I felt the knowledge base of this forum would be suit my question.
I'm planning a 180 gallon peninsula style build. I plan to use a standard AGA 180 (72 x 24 x 25) and since it's going to be a peninsula, I don't want the standard dual overflows. I'd love to have a custom build with an external overflow but that isn't in the budget right now. I have been thinking about doing a CPR CS202 external overflow box on the side of the tank. The CS202 has a rated flow rate of 1500 GPH and is suited up to a 275 Gallon tank. I will probably have the returns coming in on the same side as the overflow. Do you see any problem with this idea?
For water flow, I plan to use a Maxspect Gyre 150 supplemented with MP40's as the tank grows.
The reef will me a mixed reef, but SPS dominate with a pretty large fish load.
Any help and ideas, would be great. Thanks guys!
Matt
