180 gallon FOWLR going 180* wrong way

Trigger 180

Ok so first I'd like to make it known that both my wife & I are using this screen name. secondly, we have about 8 years in the hobby (started with fresh, and made the plunge into salt about 7 years ago). we live in Oak Harbor Washington state, and recently purchased a running 180 gallon from a very nice guy in Oregon in early Feb. After getting the tank set up, and our 90 gallon broken down, we transferred the water, live rock, and a few corals to the new 180, and got rid of the 90 gallon.

To shorten the story, my wife broke a few cardinal rules and took pity on a Black and White Percula clown from PETCO. It was doing just fine in the 180, Until it died of (what we suspect) Brooklynella. Then tragedy struck the rest of the tank with great speed, claiming all of our livestock save a Falco Hawk, & 2 scarlet cleaner shrimp (and various corals). did a 95% water change (tried to get all of it, but couldn't get those last 3-4 gallons sucked out of the sand bed! lol!)

Fast forwarding to the present, our tank at a glance:

- Lighting: 2x Current "Orbit" Dual Actinic marine LED strips. stats are (per ea. lighting strip)
36-445nm/36-460nm
54-12000K/18-8000K
* LOVE the night day sunrise\twilight cycle everyday!

- 1 GFO & Carbon Reactor (Deluxe) from Bulk Reef Supply. Rated up to 150 gallon tank. Currently filled 1/2 way with Phos - guard Phosphate Remover

- one LARGE main pump. not sure how big, but turns the tanks over at least 3x per hour

- Reef Octopus Needle wheel 150 Protein Skimmer

- 1 digital titanium heater

- 20 gallon sump
- 20 gallon refugium (3" sandbed, chaeto and 10 lbs. of live rock)
