180 Gallon FOWLR

I have a 180 Gallon Acrylic peninsula or wall divider tank that that I made into a normal stand tank. It originally came with two holes drilled at the bottom for a closed loop system but I covered them up not realizing what they were for.

Currently I have a 1100 gph submersible pump for a return pump from my sump and a Koralia 4 for additional movement in the tank.

The sump design is pretty basic. It's a 40 gallon that I built breaks and dividers for an equipment area and a refugium area. I have an in-tank skimmer and reactors for phosphate and carbon. To keep the sump from flooding I installed a siphon break.

For the live rock build I used fiberglass rods and made two pillars and two arches. After the pics were taken I used Coraline epoxy to cover the rods.

Here are some pics:

I like it alot. The rockscape should allow alot of swimming room and it looks pretty too. How's the Tusk doing? They are one of my favs, I keep debating whether to get one or not myself (I would need a tank upgrade too-so probably not now). Looks good.

Thanks, with the rock work I went with a minimalist effect but I still incorporated small caves and open areas of the rock for hiding. Even though this is leaning towards an aggressive tank they still need hiding places when smaller. It's a little over a 100lbs of rock.

The Tusk is not doing so good. Before all four were doing great but stupid me, I introduced a Lionfish that got picked on by the trigger and died. Some how caused all the fish to ich. Crossing fingers! :sad2:

Well today I noticed some uneaten food laying stagnant on the bottom of the tank. Doing small circles but not really moving. The area I am describing is underneath the Koralia 4. So I added another pump I had laying around the house. It's the new Maxi-Jet 1000 from Marineland. I put it underneath the Koralia and point downward, that has seemed to work for now. Hopefully thats enough.

I don't know what happened but when I came home from work I noticed something about the sump I was Fabricating in the garage. It had a huge crack. not a small fracture but a huge crack! good thing I bought two identical tanks. Sucks I have to start all over again.

Well I decided to go a different route than before on my sump. My problem is the cabinet maker that made my stand has never made an aquarium stand before and didn't know to make the internal dimension tall enough or open enough for equipment. I asked Bill from Exotic Coral Frags for some ideas and he decided to order some custom sumps from Regal Plastics. He ordered two new sumps for my 180 gallon instead of trying to cram all of what I need into one small sump. I believe the dimensions are 31x16x24 per sump. Each sump will be ran independently. I am pretty excited.

Very nice and chilled looking set-up,a pleasure to look at .

May i enquire as to what lights you have buddy ?

(3) 6ft/ 1.8288meter VHO with a CoralVue 660 ballast and Workhorse 7 Ballast.

The one you see in the pictures is a Super Actinic bulb which is similar to 420nm. I am also running a Actinic Blue (460nm) and Actinic White.
