180 relocation project

THanks Paul. I have one also. I have to go through my bits and see what I have for cutting. Do you use sand paper drums for smoothing?

Why would I do that?? lol The size ot the container I am using now, I think lasts the perfect amount of time.I think it is maybe 25gal.

Why would you do that? Because it keeps flooding your tank! LOL!!!

What about putting a valve on the surge to slow the flow just a little so the overflow has time to work... It would help make your surge last longer, it just wouldn't be quite as strong.

I like what it does now, well excpet the overflowing and not triggering. I thought about putting a valve on there. I am just going to put a bigger pump on there.

You could always remove all the overflow teeth and go with something like this... ???

Welding acrylic supports to the overflow to support the eggcrate would be easy! I've got tons of gutter guard, we could just zip tie it to the eggcrate. :D

Russ did you read the link to tunze on the thread with the big skimmer in it? This thing looks like a knock off of a tunze. Maybe later I will get Tunze's hydrofoamers for this one. Here is the link
I thought the neck was just an inexpesive way to make this skimmer, but there is some science involved. lol It tells you in the PDF about it. I got my invoice for mine. I am waitting until tomorrow to pay for it when Renee is not home. lol

Oh yeah the surge device is cool. I got it to not overflow the center brace near as bad anymore. Still a little more tinkering. I think maybe I will get a few Vortech when I hit my big payday. It is going to be cool when they come out with the wireless contoller. I wonder if I buy 6 if they give me a discount?? lol I still need at least two Dart's also. Scott I need hit you up soon.

Man, I just did some research and found out that Tunze is suggesting $255 for one of the hydrofoamers. They look like they kick total butt though. Check out the specs:

I like the way you think Dan, it makes me feel better about myself :bum:

Nice Dan! Are you going to try running stock first or are you going to mesh mod it right away? Theres 3 pumps right? I have an air meter so lets see how much air it draws before you mesh it.

When you have used that aitmeter on skimmers before Russ, what did you pull? do you have a cfm or lpm model?
I am curious what some of the skimmers out there are pulling

LPM model. On my stock skimmer pump, I was drawing around 4-5 lpms. With the mesh, It could go as high as 12 lpms. I normally tweak it to around 9-10 lpms. On your BK, it will peg out my meter since it only goes to 25 lpms.
