1800 Gallon Reef .... Houston, Tx

As far as updates go here is where they are at. They have been spraying some pretty toxic stuff in the house to finishing the custom cabinetry and just working on the house in general so they decided to put the tank on hold until they finish the build out on the house. There was an issue where the vapors from the undercoating that they sprayed in the house might have hazed the acrylic, but it sounds like they have work past that without issue, but it's not worth the risk to keep the system running while construction is in place. Since then they have drained the tank and are leaving it dry until it's time to get it back up and running again.

Dave has quite a bit on his plate at work and home right now so he hasn't been able to get on here and give any updates. He will be back with updates when things start rolling again and try and answer questions when he's got more time on his hands. I will try and fill in the blanks or answer questions when I catch them.

Thanks for info.. I told contractor about issues and now he is making it deeper. He told me if I wanted to turn the whole room into an aquarium I could..lol.. Anyway I can more or less get whatever I need into the sunrrom as I'm using glass sliders in the sunroom, so I should be good on any future dimensions.. I did watch an episode of tanked and they dollied in a very very large tank into the casino with about a dozen or so guys. So I'm not worried about any future builds. but my 300 is going to look small in there when built...lol. would love to upgrade to a monster tank like you have in the future. The other option is build on-site, which may work as well..I'm having the sunroom made lower than the house w/ drains in case of an accidents...

Well if nothing else I like cougaran's idea of making the floor lower, and with drains. Being on a 2nd floor of a carpeted plywood office floor is no fun.

No worries, I talked to Dave last night and he's going to give an update here in a bit on why no progress has been made in the last few months. It's a good story, full of ups and downs.

Current status is it's sitting dry while they finish the house, but it's about to get kicked back up. I know he needed to get some orders out for the tank today.

I think it's a dream to build an aquarium and a house simultaneously. Only a few are blessed to do this you my friend are probably the only one doing this right now. Congratulations on your beautiful house and even better aquarium!!!
