180G UK reef

tell 'steve' to head to dallas to join the mavs, we need another point that was as good as him. (and this way you can help me out, hehe). [/B]

that might be tricky - he's got his heart set on Miami :D Just had his 7th birthday and his box of goodies from the NBA store arrived (great pound/dollar rate at the moment ;)).....his training drills video is Nash.......all his replica kit is Shaq/wade stuff though

Wooow awsome job. I am realy curious about how it is going to look like. I beleive it is going to be and amazing aquascaping when you are done with the rock work.

Finished the backing today!

Need to be touched up when put into the tank but thats easy enough.

With the two islands (cant fit 3!) Reef bones island for the nem (needs some thought) and tall pilar for coral (needs fomaing and coating for stability)

wow that is looking amazing, would love to see how it goes once in the water, hopefully it doesn't float! i've never knew expanding foam was safe to use in SW tanks. cant wait to see the tank when its completed

Rocks all done (bit of touching up to do "in tank")

Next step is to put it in the tank and silicone in position (enough silicone to hold it but not so much i can easily cut it to remove the bits easily)

Useful pic for anyone with no vison ;)

Cant see from this angle but the island has a big tang size hole through its centre :D

Lots of swimming room and sand bed space for LPS to sit on:

Next step.....display hardware - vortechs and halides :D

lookin good tiggsy!

what happend over at UR where u go fella??

what foam did you use mate? im setti up a similar size tak myself at the momentt :)

and is that epoxy just the same as fibreglass resign?

Mike,

My Tiggsy account has been given a lifetime ban - luckily these Americans are far nicer anyway :D

The foam is bog standard DIY expanding foam from B&Q or similar and the resin is "finishing resin" from a model shop - but its the same stuff used for making fiberglass - it goes on very runny so is perfect for this, i just paint it on with a kids paint brush (pack of 50 brushes for £5 at Toys R Us!)

mind if i ask why u got a lifetime ban?

im settin up a 4 x 30 x 24(high) tank at the moment.
mines fibreglass build tho. Bare bottom, black fibreglass :d shud be good when finished i hope :)

Mike, Sounds good - the 4X30 is a great size, easy to light and not too dominating in a living room but lots of space to aqua scape.

As for the ban....I'll PM as its prob best "Off air"

yeah i really like the back to fron depth you get with the 30".

good luck with yours, i think im going to steal your expanding foam idea tho :D

Not much happening right now....few things though:

Moved all the fish out of the frag tank and into other parts of the sump as the giga nem is swelling up BIG and i was a bit worried it may eat them! Right now the only fish in there are some new "onxy" Percs...not sure if i like them yet, hoping they may blacken up like my old onxy did, if not i may use my commons in the display with the giga and leave the percs in the frag tank (the frag tank will become the rose nem slice and dice centre so a pair of clowns in there will be fine)

New percs and giga:

My old percs - hope the new ones look like this in time (mikey...any hope?)

perc-and-bta.jpg

Added a habistat pulse - i have been controlling my heat by switching the heater on at 10pm and off at 9am on a timer.....now its getting colder at night the swing is too much so using this and a single 300w (may add another heater as it gets colder)

IMG_3826.jpg

Main sump is getting busy :D Plenty of room and huge flow in there though so all are happy. Got most of the fish in there apart from the percs, the juv commons, the pair of helfrich and the pair of yashas - they are in other sections on their own.

and film (mind your neck)

Not much to update. Got the first of the two halides up and took some pics :)

(dont worry - the halide will be hung a bit neater than this!)

Plumbed two overflows from the weir and two returns from the sump room.

Done LOADS of tidying up in the sump room, pics when its finished tommorow...95% of plumbing done now.

Next step - fill display, sort water levels then loop to sump and cross fingers :)

IMG_3996.jpg

Not much room left under there......managed to squezze in the halide balast ;)
