18w t5 bulb options

I went with the Rapid LED 80 degree optics, hoping I can keep the light closer to the water for asthetic reasons. I'll let you guys know how it works! And if anyone knows of a good clamp-style arm to hold let me know

Good luck with the LED fixture! The optics simply serve to "focus" the light and "punch" it further through depth - 80 degree optics will have greater spread but less intensity at depth. The 80 degree optics should give you enough spread for your tank, with the tradeoff of a little less PAR at various depth, but unless you are planning a lot of SPS corals you should be OK.

Many users of these PAR LED bulbs use various clampstyle fixtures which can be found at Home Depot, Office Depot, Office Max, etc. Just remember to remove any shrouds so that the heatsink of the bulb is uncovered - it is not good to keep heat around the bulbs as it would shorten their lifespan. If you can hang a simple ceramic socket from its cord that might be the cleanest option.
