190 G tank with 3 visible sides recommedations

Hi,

I am trying to decide on the best circulation system for a new 190 G rectangular tank that will have 3 visible sides with one of the short sides against the wall and two long sides and the opposite short side viewable.

A pure closed loop system would have only returns found on the short side against the wall and would probably not be the best circulation.

The Tunze streams seem to be a great idea. What would you recommend as the best configuration?

1) 2 Streams on the same side alternating current?

2) 2 streams opposite each other on the short sides aimed at each other alternating current?

What size streams would be best? Or, should I use the Tunze Turbelle electronic powerheads?

The tank will be 48"x31"x30". It will be eventually be a SPS/Clams tank.

Thanks!

I would use two 6000 Streams on the same wall, hopefully that will be blowing the 48" length of the tank. I would use them on a multicontroller set to pulse mode with both operating in opposite pulse. So when one is at 30% the other is at 100% and then they switch at say 7 second intervals.

I concern I just thought of is in this configuration, the flow would always be in one direction. Will this be randome enough?

Is the supply of 6000 streams better now?

Thanks Roger for all your help

The flow wouldn't really be in one direction because it should come from one side in the back stronger than on the other side and hopefully the flow would bounce a bit off the front creating a somewhat circular flow pattern. These recommendations are pretty far from an exact science and I am trying to work within the limitations you set forth with 3 sides viewable. There are just too many variables with rock work and the like and I have only owned so many aquariums in my life.

As for the 6000's. Unfortunately this is the pump we are most behind on. At this time everyone who has a 6100 on backorder should be getting it soon and dealers should have stock. In the next couple weeks I hope to accomplish the same with the 6060's and 6080's. I will also get some 6000's but not the number I need to get to a point where everyone has them in stock. I expect that I can get a good supply of 6000 Streams in a few weeks. I hope that by next year Streams will be stock items. After Axel Tunze's visit a couple weeks ago I got a very strong commitment form Tunze and a strong vote of confidence. The decision was made to make the US market the first priority and I have already seen the results of this meeting. We are rapidly closing in on the volume of sales seen in France and Germany which essentially tie for first place so we now have the clout to get what we need. Unfortunately, I know that their will still be hick ups along the way and this is part of the price of low volume production of specialty products.
