190 Gal build

Just ordered my Tunez Osomolator, Bio Spira,Glue for the dry rock, will order the Apex tomorrow along with all my sand and rock, I hope Jeff will bill me tomorrow for the Sump, I also ordered the 40watt UV sterilizer.I am hoping by July 11th to begin the installation and plumbing of the tank

Nice. I plan on setting up the exact same tank soon. Are you liking the stock canopy I didn't really care for it when I look at it at the LFS

for the Radions it's not tall enough, I spoke with DSA about it, they claim soon they will take customer orders but for now I have to go through my LFS for canopy changes, I wanted them to build me an extension ring, I'll use ir for now, I will build 1 later, taller with different door. it does look good on the tank though

Jeff sent me an email this morning stating he would be packing my order end of this week or beginning of next. He said he has a ton of stuff to get packed up. The man is busy. So I'm still hopeful for the 11th to begin.

Neptune Apex ordered, 200 lbs fiji pink Live sand ordered, I will order 200 lbs dry live rock tomorrow, after that nothing left to buy other than plumbing materials, which will be bought Friday, I spoke with my Poly tank provider, they are waiting on a truck to deliver my tanks, they feel like it will be next week, its going to be a busy week, I have to have the plumbing done on the tank and the mixing station done before the 24th, and I wont be in town 18th or the 19th, I have a Bass tournament to go to.

I installed the pond liner 3 inches up the sides and across the bottom last night , I used staples to hold it in place , I'll have to use some clear silicone to cover folds in corners and the staples, my wife gave me a yoga mat that's about 1/4 inch thick I will use to line the bottom as well , perfect fit, Jeff is behind a little on packing and shipping I don't know if he'll get my equipment packed and shipped this week, he's taking from Wednesday to Monday off, he and his wife are going to celebrate their 34 year anniversary this week. Will post pick tonight of liner and mat

There might be a problem with the Fiji pink blowing around with the mp60s. I know I'm gonna be using special grade on my new tank

We used oolite sand, VERY fine, and had some issued with it blowing around and moving for a couple of weeks, but once the tank cycled and the bacteria populated the sand, everything stayed put. we can now mess with the sand, stir it up, and the tank will be clear again in a couple of minutes. You just have to get past the first few weeks.

All I know is I hate when I adjust flow and I have a massive sandstorm. Especially when found an sps tank.

I fully understand, I'm just stating my experience with even finer sand, and I have not had issues with the sand blowing, even with the pumps at full power. That being said, It is also in a 300g not a 190g, so there is more water to be moved by the same amount of pump.

You can cover the lighter sand with a layer of heavier sand. You can strategically place a few small rocks that will deflect the pump's flow to preserve the sandbed. Lots of ways around this.

completion of the mixing station, top of discharge will go through ceiling with 1" pex pipe and arch to the wall behind tank, it will exit into a washing machine drain box and into the sump.
Pump is a panworld 200S 1750 gph, it will move some water, inside both tanks I have down pipes for mixing salt when I get the tank ready, this way I can have 100 gal salt water ready to go into tank.

I have a tracking number and a delivery date for the equipment from Life Reef, I should have the refugium, sump, skimmer, and pumps on Monday, I should have the tank up and running before the following weekend.

Monday I will get the Sump, refugium,Skimmer, Wenesday for the HD70 External pump, may or may not have it completed before next weekend, things might have to wait until the 20th for completion, my house is beginning to look like a warehouse,5 boxes with 200 lbs sand,4 boxes with 200 lbs dry live rock, 43 in UV sterilizer, Apex system,2 buckets of reef crystals, plumbing connections, its going to be a mad house come Monday evening, this is when I should begin plumbing to my mixing station to the tank and maybe some sump plumbing, It all depends on when I get in from work and how much I want to mess with it, and whats going on Tuesday at work....

I am pondering the drains, trying to come up with the best method of achieving this, this tank has 3 drains and 2 returns, the drain kit came with 3 durso's, seeing as I will have a refugium, I dont want all 3 drains, or the majority of the drain going to my refugium as this will negate having one, way, way to much flow seeing as Jeff wanted to up size my return pump to the 1750 gph pump, so I was contemplating having 2 full siphon and an emergency over flow setup, this way I can split 50/50 to refugium and sump, any thoughts on this or am I over thinking this ?
