I was wondering what would be a good 1st clam to get?I have a 90 gal tank with 2 250 watt MH and 2 110 vho's(720 watts).I've been keeping reef tanks for about 6 years so i'm going to take the dive.And where on the net would be a good place to make a order of the clam?

A good clam would be either a Squamosa or a Derasa. Good places to order them from would be eithe Liveaquaria.com or Clamsdirect.com; Liveaquaria offers aquacultured clams, though I'm not sure if Clamsdirect offers aquacultured varieties of those, too (but when you click for details, it would say "FARMED"). Hope I helped and good luck!:D

Your light is fine for any clam. A good "starter" clam is a squamosa, or maybe a derasa, as mentioned above.

I have the same exact lighting and tank as you do You can put any clam you want in there even on the sandbed. I suggest a nice Maxima or Crocea. Look at my old tank in my gallery I ran only Hamilton 250watt HQI's no actinics on my old 90gal. Look at my Maxima On the sandbed which he was over a year old until the hurricanes took him away:( Now I run Duel 250watt XM's and Duel 110watt VHO's}

I have a squamosa in a 55 with 2 250W and 2 VHO actinics. It is showing signs of growth and is doing very well. It is not the most colorful clam but I think it looks good. Very hardy clam.
