1st corals and I'm freaking out

I got me some xenia and star polyps that might be having problems. Is it normal for xenia to just drop polyps? Mine has been dropping about two heads a day? Is this how it spreads? At least that's what I'm hoping. My star polyp seems to be tearing itself apart. I can see it stretching. Will this hurt it? Both the xenia and stars look good, so I'm hoping I'm freaking out for nothing.

thanks

Neither one of those sound normal to me, sorry. Both are pretty hardy corals, so I think you made a good choice on your first corals. They could pull through. How do your ammonia, nitrite, pH and salinity levels look?

The star polyps are stretching to try and find a surface to adhere to as they grow. There's a reason people hate them, and it's because they can take over a tank very rapidly.

How can you stop them if they already connected to main rock formation?
