We picked up the first shipment of our 90 gallon "package" and are very satisfied with what we received. The stuff came packaged very well and during flight, the boxes weren't damaged in any way.

Here are some pics because pics are better than gab :)

This is how much the first shipment filled the tank. The reef should be just a few inches from the water surface when done. I'm no artist so this is my rendition of a "reef":

The fishes like the new rock:

Look at how much color there is:

The rock is absolutely covered with life:

Thanks Richard and I'm really looking forward to the next shipment!!

Thanks for the compliments! Looking at everyone else's recent set ups is really exciting in anticipation of mine.

When I put the first couple of rocks in last night, there was one hitch-hiker that looked like a translucent thing about 3/4" long with a reddish colored head. He was swimming on the top of the sand and quickly escaped back into the rock. I haven't seen him since.

Hey KUDA:

In those top pics what looks like a light dusting of sand is the camera flash on the lighter areas of the rock. The returns and power head do stir the sand a bit but mostly just at the base of the rock.

the sooner you get rid of all the colorful sponges on the rocks, the sooner your nitrates will come under control.

What? Are you saying Kill the sponges?
Why would you do that? Don't they filter more water than anything else in the tanK?

Dont purposely kill the sponges. If you see one dieing it would be wise ro remove it by siphoning it off the rock. Otherwise you want to keep as many alive as you can. They only contribute to the trates when they are dead/dieing.

Almost half of mine died w/i 2 weeks. The rest slowly got smaller and smaller until it was gone. If its peeling itself of the rock, then pull it off. Its dead. I Just got tired of the weekly 50% water changes in my 90 gal. Once I removed all the sponges, I only had to do normal water changes. Just my opinion though.

That's suprising... if you were a couple of thousand miles from Tampa, then you could say the sponges didn't survive the trip. But they must have gotten to north Florida in a matter of a few hours!

My rock was pulled by Richard at about 11 AM, and in my tank by 1:30 -2PM. (84 miles, door to door!) The sponges are the most amazing part of the rock, I'm sorry your's didn't survive.

It was Jan and cold, and they missed a connecting flight. They were out of Richards shop for only 10 hours before they were in my tank, but no heat packs. They didn't feel too cold, and all the live creatures made it. Bad luck maybe. I would still buy from him again.
