1st zoas

i just got my first zoas! they were $10 dollar frags from a lfs. i did a 5 min freshwater dip and "cleaned" them up a bit by cutting off any poor looking polyps. they didn't look to be in the greatest shape but i could see their potential. (especially for 10 bucks) i was just wondering how long does it normally take for them to open back up?

they are in a BC29 with stock lighting (for now)
nitrite 0ppm
nitrate 10ppm
ammonia 0ppm
pH 8.2
temp 78 F

For me it's usually a couple of minutes to an hour or so. Sometimes a bit more

i really hope i didn't kill them.....it's been more than a few minutes, that's for sure

Always run your actinics only on the day of new arrivals and after you dip or not. I've done this for many years and my polyps open up within minutes. I picked up a colony yesterday, performed a 4 minute dip, placed them in my tank in line with current and they opened within 30 minutes. 3 polyp opened right away.

ah maybe that's what's wrong.....all of my lights are on....
