So I'm just starting the build phase, still buying tho.Lol. Im going to combine a 14g biocube and a 15 gl octogon into a 40 breeder. Both have been running 2+ yrs. I have frogspawns and shrooms. I bought a Reef Octopus 110. My return will be a Mag 5. Modular Marine overflow with 1inch Bean. 40lbs of CaribSea reef grade.
How to start? Cycle tank with some substrate from both tanks. When do you pull/add LR from both tanks? When do add frogspawns and shrooms both from old tanks. I have a pistol shrimp and watchman goby and Royal Gramma in one tank and a single clown in the eh other. Plus blue legs and *** snails.
Planning to use octogon as a QT. Thinking of keeping biocube for some corals and a fish or 2.

You'll probably find someone with any opinion you want on this. I'm sure someone would say dump it all in at once, and it'll be fine. I'm sure you can find someone else who would say you can't move tanks that old or everything will crash. I'm sure both opinions would be based on actual personal experience too. Most opinions would fall somewhere in the middle.

If I was going to combine two tanks, I would do it a little at a time. Do water changes and use the old water in the new tank and let the new tank cycle. Then move over your live stock little by little. Monitor the changes and keep everything happy/healthy. I think there are going to be too many variables to ever make a definitive answer. By moving things a little at a time, if there is a problem you won't lose everything all at once. That's just my opinion though.

Oh, 2 more things to add to the list of things I have. 1,no money 2,patience. I am in no hurry. The wife wanted it going 6 mnths ago.
