2.5 Pico Ideas

Well, I've been around in the hobby for awhile now and just can't really seem to find something interesting enough to warrant itself going into this tank. Obviously the tank is too small for any fish and not really big enough for a skunk cleaner shrimp so what do you think? It just has to be interesting, somewhat hardy, and affordable.

how about a chaeto covered tank? a complete layer of chaeto covering the surface but extensive open space underneath for creepy-crawlies. kinda like a jungle canopy covering but with chaetomorpha.

maybe mysis shrimp or ghost shrimp, lots of pods, some rock and sand but concentrating more of the activity in the chaeto canopy. the mysis could be the "birds", worms and pods could be the bottom "jungle", maybe a tiny mantis as a top-level predator.

kinda of a parallel universe biotope-theme.

not very colorful (especially to laymen) but if you're right up close to the tank, i bet a reefer-observer can see a lot of activity in such a setup.

hmm, i've already thought of an issue with my thought, not enough surface agitation. the chaeto would need to be a little lose and/or slightly below the actual surface to allow surface skimming/agitation somehow.

hey tiny. that could be interesting. there is a hob filter so i should be able to get some agitation in there. this really goes along the lines of doing something different. lol.

another idea is to puree some mushrooms and dump them into the tank so that it would then be covered my them.

keep the ideas coming though, i want to be able to do something thats a bit unusual ;)

Zoa gardens are nice, I know some with a pest tank, all the unwanted kalkable anemones with hair algae, quite nice looking actually.

A gang of Sexy Shrimp, pom pom crabs, Porcelain anenome crabs, zoos and mushrooms. I do love tiny's suggestion though

I have heard that the puree works. For some reason I just want something different than sexies or pom poms. You've reminded me, I am going to check my local reef club for mojanos to make a species only tank :P

pigmy's are too much work. i have gone with the chaeto forest idea and its pretty cool. i'll post pics sometime this weekend.

this should be intersting.

id try to find a couple small peices of uncured rock to give you some interesting critters.

when i was playing with pico's i searched the rock bins for the most interesting rubble i could find

so far its some rubble from my fuge. i have found:
mini brittles
baby snails of some sort(i think ceriths)
a worm
and thats about it although i'm sure there are also a good amount of pods as well. i have added a small hermit and a little mushroom coral that i'm nurainf back to health. i may try a mojano and any other small little critters i can find.
