Hi everyone!

I have a 2.5g pico from miejer and I am looking to put black sand in it.

I may need around 5 lbs I am thinking. Some to put in and some to keep and replace as it is vacuumed out.

Any idea where to get REEF SAFE black sand in small amounts?

I was looking at the super naturals moonlight sand which suggests that it can be used in SW tanks but doesn't specify it's make up (silica etc)

Thanks! :)

* I have read the pros and cons of using black sand

I'm using Tahitian Moon for my 110g.

Looks pretty good, I haven't had any issues with the dreaded magnetism. As long as you know about the black sand issues, I'd have to say this one is pretty nice.

Thank you!!!

I looked at the Carib sea Hawaiian black sand today at my Lfs and I was not pleased at all with the consistency. I'm glad to hear this one is pretty good.

What would you say the grain size is? Like sugar? Do you have any sand sifters?

Thanks again!

I have black Tahitian sand and Carib Sea Complete in my 3 fw aquariums. They all look really nice. I didn't think black sand would do well for a saltwater aquarium, but I'm liking the idea they can all kind of match.

In the image, the large grains are the carib sea and the fine grain is the sand. It looks very nice (IMO).
