Currently we're running a 600 gal tank with a Profilux 2 and a 90 gal Elos with a Profilux 3 using a single laptop. The Profilux 2 is connected to the PC by a USB/RS232 cable while the Profilux 3 is connected by the home LAN via TCP/IP. Until yesterday, the Profilux 2 had older firmware 4.x on it so we actually ran two versions of Profilux Control software on the laptop (4.x and 5.x). Yesterday we upgraded the firmware on both controllers to 5.15.
So the questions are:
Can we run both controllers from the same Profilux Control software and just select RS232 or TCP/IP before we connect to the appropriate controller or should we install two instances of the software and dedicate each it to one controller?
In other words, is there data or settings that is stored locally on the PC where we'd be better having two instances of the software installed or is everthing stored on the controller itself?
Does anyone see a problem running both controllers from one version of Profilux Control?
Thanks
