I just have a fw questions. I have two clowns now and they have been in the tank for about a week. Im wondering how long i have to wait before i get a anemonie? Does time matter? When i do get one will they go in right away? Thanks!

Hi, How long has your tank been up and running? I suggest you do a lot of reading before you decide to get an anemone. Look for what kind of anemone will host your clowns. Find out how difficult the anemone is to care for in captivity. When they say expert only they really mean it. The best anemone to start with is a bubble tip anemone aka ( Entacmaea quadricolor). A good web site to find a lot of information on BTA's is www.karensroseanemones.com

I second Christina in the need to do lots of reading, the faqs at the top of this forum, the link Christina posted and WetWebMedia.com should answer most of your questions.

Also remember that clownfish do not require an anemone to be happy. Our aquarium world is quite safer for the clownfish compared to the ocean and these fish do not need to retreat every other second to an anemone host to escape danger. If you think an anemone will be a little difficult for now take a look at some corals that are like "mimic anemones", ie: frogspawn, hammer corals, mushrooms. I have even seen them host in flower pot corals. There are many secondary options that are easier for us and lighter on the wallet. :D

I recently got a BTA for my false perc, took him a few days to find it but she hosted as soon as she found it. If your tank hasn't been running for some time I wouldn't chance it, say 6 months or so, some may say longer.

BTW, what year is your ZO6?
