As you can see the mushrooms on this rock are crowded and competing for space it looks like. Ive read that they will kill another mushroom next to it by releasing toxins. I dont want this to happen. What should i do??

Also how do i get my mushrooms to spread all over my tank??
i read on how to attach an unattached mushroom.... but u cant pull on off a rock can you? if so... how?

as u can see the rest of my tank is mushroom free.. i would like to change that!!!

Just give it time. And soon enough you will be asking how to get rid of them. ;)

Some 3+ year old pictures from when I was selling off all my mushroom rocks.

really cool vid of the mushrooms. so cool to watch each mushroom compete for the light and move over the neighboring shrooms.

I would not worry so much. Your shrooms hardly look crowded and if they were they have the ability to let go of the rock and reattach elswhere. I like your assortment very, nice colors.

BTW, I also enjoyed the video!

This is far from overcrowded!!!

Propagating:

I have read and heard stories of mushrooms being chopped up in a coffee bean grinder and poured back in the tank. they show up everywhere. Pretty drastic and I have yet to try it, plan on it in the next couple of weeks.

Propagating mushrooms is extremely easy. Here is what we do:

1. Cut the head off only, leaving the stem, and transplant it elsewhere. the head will grow back on the stem and the old head will attach and grow a new stem.

2. Cut the mushroom done the center, making sure to get a little bit of its "mouth" in the cutting, transplant the cuttings, each half, or quarter, or 8th (you get the point here) will grow itself back into a full mushroom.

Our objective is to propagate and bank our shrooms (frag tank in the garage), so we don't take the time to watch them grow out on their own except in our display tank. In a few months you will be amazed at how much they have spread on their own.

Dont worry about your mushroom being over crowded. Soon enough you'll have problems for them overcrodwing yout tank

Heres my annoying problem.

OK, now that is crowded! It looks great though. I have the same reds and blues but they are not nearly as prolific as yours.

I hate these mushrooms. At first they looked nice but now, its a problem having them.
I tried everything to getting rid of them like scrapping them, sryring them with lemon juice and venigar, but no hope.
