2' cube build has officially started!

Here is the latest update. Scott has finished my reactor. I just have to make it to his house to pick it up. I am hoping to have it running by Friday! I have also plumbed my previous 29 gallon into my cube sump. I am goign to turn this into a Zoa/grow out tank.

I also figured out why my Gen-x PCX30 kept cavitating. I bought the pump used and I guess it was used longer then I was told. I took the cover off where the cooling fan was and found it to be coated in old dirt. I thouroughly cleaned this out on Thursday night and have not had a problem with the pump since.

I also have purchased a used SCWD and am planning to mod it to have 3/4" outputs so I can use it on my tank with minimal head loss. I am hoping to work on this next weekend. I am hoping this will be an inexpenisive alternative to an OM Squirt.

I have also added a few frags. I am loving my Purple Cap and Scroll. The purple cap is already growing over the Aquamend. The scroll died off slighly around the aquamend, but looks like it is on the rebound.

Here are a few updated shots.

I have been pretty busy lately, but have finally had time to get a few projects finished. Scott at ASD has finished my calcium reactor, but I have yet to find a place that can fill a 2.5lb tank for me. If I do not find some where soon I will be trading it out for a 5lb tank, which will be way overkill for me.

Also, I installed an additional support under my cube becuase my floor was starting to slope a little. It was a pretty easy project. I poured a small concrete footing, screwed a 4"x6" between the three joists below my tank. I waited a few days for the concrete to dry and then installed an adjustable support from Home Depot.

Now I am working on a custom manifold for my tank. My closed loop pump is mounted on the side of my canopy and when I plumbed the tank I had a difficult time plumbing my closed loop system in the small space I had. There are just too many T's and 90's and it really hampers the return flow. I have not finished my manifold, but here is what it looks like so far.

I still need to glue in the 3/4" pipe in each hole and attach a 3/4" coupling to that. After I get the 3/4" pipe glued in I am going to take my Porter Cable cutoff tool and smooth the inside, so it is all flush with the inside fo the 2" pipe.

Then I am going to need to reduce my 2" pipe to a 1" female threaded fitting so it can screw onto my closed loop pump. It is a work in progress, but I think it is going to work very well and so far has not been too hard to do.

I have one more diy project. I am going to install two fans in my stand. I am going to need to drill two 4.5" holes in the front of my canopy and am then going to make grilles out of red oak for them. The fans will be controlled by my Aquacontroller Jr. I am having heat probelms during the day and have to keep the doors to my stand open to let excess heat out.

very nice tank. i love it. looks like ti will be fully stocked very soon because of how big some of those coral are. keep it up, im tagging along
