so heres my 2 cup acrylic pico

it started as a box to practice acrylic work for my DIY fuge, and i thought, hmm, i have an old aqualifter pump not being used, why not put some sand, rubble and a few frags in, see how they do?

so i brought it home, driled 2 holes in the back for airline, hooked the aqualifter "closed loop", threw in some sand, water from my 29, rubble from my fuge added some GSP, button polyps, stomatella snail(tons in my main tank) and an asterina star(why not?)

threw on a 15w NO flourescent light sat back and enjoyed

Total cost: $0, but i am goign to make LED lighting(once again, why not?) which will cost a few bucks, but nothing big

specs are 4"Tx3"Dx3"l
pump, aqualifter(3.5gph)
aragonite sand(from my fuge)
about 1/4-1/2LB live rock rubble(from fuge)
button polyps(from main tank)
Neon GSP(main tank)
Cheato(fuge, add some filtration/cool to watch grow)


the pico stays at 80*, +/- 1

water changes will be every now and then, takign a turkey baster, sucking one squirt out, putting 1 squirt in from my main tank

A) a reef tank
B) a reef tank under 1 gallon
C) a reef tank that holds 2 cups of water, full to the top about to overflow?
the overall look of it is really sloppy, looks arent what im proud of here, im proud i can keep corals alive in 2 cups of water... haha

and no, i didnt mean that as a test to see if they would die, if needed i can toss them in my 29 SPS dominated just a few feet away

Awesome! You know, Julian Sprung has been doing something like this, little jar tanks keeping a single coral in it, and having it do well, so you're not nuts.

Can you describe the airlift system? How does that work?

its not really an airlift system, tis pretty much, 2 holes in the back, airtube stuffed through so its tight, a little silicone to make sure it stays good, water flows in one side, out the other, it puts more flow on the left side, so im debating finding one of those old air flow splitter things and adding another output to it, though everything seems fine with the flow the way it is now

sorry to say....this isn't the smallest tank i've seen on this forum lol. i think it was something like .094 oz? i might be wrong but it was REALLY small. it was an old ant farm that someone turned into a tank. i'll try and find the thread. looks awesome though!! keep up the good work!

Whoo. Makes me reconsider taking that majono home from the LRS(if they haven't flushed it) and stuffing it and an AC filter on a 2 gallon "tank"

haha, yea hockey pucks come in handy around my reefs, and when i get home ill try to get some better pictures, the only thing it some of the resin bond splashed on the sides when it was first glued, so there are soem dark marks, but its alot better looking in real life
