2 days of no heater :(

I moved to a new house and tank went to the basement. It is a bit colder down there and one 300 watt heater wasn't keeping my system stable. I have it controlled with an acjr and to add some extra warm decided to use a spare 150 laying around. I should have plugged in into the controller as well but wanted to experiment before doing so. Well it was working and I got lazy and in the midst of doing some tank maintenance it somehow got unplugged. My tank went to 75* for two night in a row and STN ensued.

My 5" Blue Tort I've had for two years and my favorite ORA blue mille colony are almost completely gone. I've clipped frags to remember them. :sad1:

that's weird, 75 really isn't that low. I've had frags come back from a day at 60* in shipping. Do you normally keep your tank pretty warm?

sorry to hear of your woes :(

I dont think Ive ever went a year without at least one time my tanks getting down to 74 or 75 for one reason or another, and it doesnt seem to phase much if anything. I regularly hit 82 on the high side. Are you sure that was/is the only thing going on that could cause your problems??

That's the only thing that I can think of that changed. It may have got down to 74* I keep my temp right between 78 - 78.5 on a controller. I could tell everything else was effected as some corals changed lost colors, but luckily nothing else STN'd. Maybe it was just a coincidence?

Kretz do u happen to have pics of your tank!?!?
I would love to see it!
Thanks, Dave

well I tried to take a picture of my tank but the lighting is impossible in the basement. This picture was taken back in december of 2009. Lots of growth, different corals, and changes since then, but oh well.

actually it is typically stable within 1*. I only have ~65 of total water volume

thats the problerm

i changed a power bar on my controller and forgot to plug my heater into another socket and my temp dropped to 75 in a few days and lost no corals

i have nothing stable in my tank temp wise heater keeps between 79 and during the day it gets up to 81.5 (hALIDES )

I RAN MY TANK LIKE YOUR AND HAD A HEAT ISSUE AND IT KILLED A FEW CORALS - I DECIDE TO DO STUFF A LITTLE MORE EASY
