2 firefish gobies together

I've had one firefish for some time now and I haven't seen it for several weeks. I assumed it died so I went and bought another one last night. Sure enough, when I got home I saw the firefish in my tank at it ate. I put the second firefish in my QT. Assuming the second firefish makes it, can I add it to my display tank which is a 150g reef?

My understanding is, it's a crap shoot. If they are the same sex, you will not have success. If they are opposite, you likely will. The thing is, if they're the same, you're going to have a heckuva time catching one and getting it out. I'd suggest returning or rehoming the second firefish.

I've had two in my 75g for about 3 months. I'm pretty sure they're both male as the bigger one chases the smaller one a lot, but isn't able to do any damage. I've heard that if you have enough live rock and a large enough tank (like you do), you might be okay. You definitely won't be able to catch them once you put the 2nd one in though.

I attempted to have more than one in my 150 and eventually only one survived probably both male or female so not likely to survive. If you had a large group of rock that made numerous barriers it might work but as I said it didn't for me.

I have a pair in my 180 without issue.

BTW, they went in at the same time so that might make a difference.

I have 3 in a 125. Two of them live on one side as a pair and the other one lives on the other side. Once in a while one of the pair will swim over and hang out with the other one. I have never seen any aggression at all. I think you will be fine. Just hope they pair up so they can hang out together, they seem to come out more and be braver when there is two.

You can always put a true pair together. But otherwise, unless you have a very large tank, you will likely end up with just one. Similarly with an odd number greater than 1, it is likely you will have a pair and if the tank is large enough a single. They basically don't like each other in the longer term once territories have been established.

I had two before (not sure what the sex was) but they would hang out together in the day and slept in different crevices at night.
