2 mated pairs or 4 young unsexed

Is there any drawback to buying 4 unsexed seahorses if I do not care about breeding? The four unsexed seahorses are obviously cheaper, but if I happened to get all one sex, would there be a health problem or psychological problem? Thanks in advance.

No problem at all if the unsexed happen to turn out to be all males or all females. The odds are in your favor though to get at least one male and one female if you buy four unsexed seahorses.

If you do not care about breeding then you might want to try getting all females. No pouch problems with the females.

in my experience with kuda's .....males are hard to get when young. i have personally ordered many at a lfs i work at and it took a while as all unsexed young seahorses we got turned out to all be females. eventually we ordered a few again and weeks later a male was clearly spotted amoung the group. but only one! its a gamble to get unsexed young but with four you should get at least one male but dont be surprized if you get none.

No egg bound problems with males :D

Six of one, half a dozen of the other. Personally I've never had pouch or egg bound issues in all my experience with seahorses.
