I currently have (1) MJ 1200 in my AP-24 and want to add more flow. I already have a spare 1200, will this be too much for this system? I would put it in the rear chamber and plumb it in w/ loc-line.
The 1200 is a nice pump but will add some heat to the water. Maybe replacing the 1200 in there now with a few 900s, or adding a single 900 instead of a 1200.
As a closed loop is will be fine. This is what I have in my NanoCube 24DX. I tried two MJ1200's in the chambers and it was just too much for the return water. The display was flooded, for lack of a better term. the lighting fixture was submerged due to the water level being too high in the display area.
i would have to agree that 2x 1200 would be a bit too much. but i think if you make the hole where water enters the rear chamber much wider you might be able to use 2 x1200.
Thanks for the replies. I did think about too much water returning into the main tank. One solution would be to remove some of the grates, say every other one. Thoughts?
