Since i did a water change..... everyone is happy i find my zoas are beyond happy.. as well as the rest of the livestock. if it's not broke dont fix it.

No skimmer No filter just LR and a powerhead.


You people let your systems just go?

I think after quite some time, it may finally need a water change without a skimmer.

I had one tank go 2 years before it started getting a small bloom so I did 20% changes twice over 2 weeks and it was fine till I took it down.

I would love to do this, problem is I run nanos with a pretty good bio load. How big is your tank what do you have in it?

i run a 37g zoo/palys, sps tank and don't run anything other than a HOB filter with chemi-pure.. everything is doing great and my sps are starting to show growth.. luv this low maintenance set up!

I did my first WC on mine Saturday in over a month. Life just gets in the way sometimes. Everything looks fine and I am starting to get growth again after fragging.

I picked up some LR and had a monti hitchhiker that I removed and placed it in the tank since I did not want it to die in my other one so we shall see what no skimming does.

Do you test your parameters along the way or just change the water when the mood strikes?

More of change the water when I have the time to be honest. I don't test so I have no clue as to what my parameters are reading. That probably freaks people out but if something doesn't "look right" then I have an idea that it needs some TLC.

My Xenia and Z's and P's are my pH and Alk indicators. I don't test much unless they stopped/slow pumping their pompoms and the Z's and P's don't look happy which tell me the Alk / pH are off.

Lost some corals, a couple SPS and a several colonies of Z's and P's will need to be thrown out soon, haven't opened since the move, some have already melted.... and a couple fish didn't make it.

Yes, this forum aint the same anymore... which is why I don't frequent it anymore besides the other reasons I have.

i dont really do water changes i do dose like mad i have to dose about 2.5 dkh of alk every 1 to 2 days as i have a stocked to the rim 75 full of z/p's but i do run a skimmer gfo and carbon.
