2 occ. clown and 1 anemone...Trouble?

I bought another clownfish earlier today before I went to work. When I got home from work I saw the new fish hosting my frogspawn which I thought was really cool. Then I saw one of my corals got knocked down so I tried fixing it, but I think this made both of my clown scared so they jumped in the anemone. Since then my new clownfish hasn't stopped hosting the anemone, and now my old clownfish who didn't host the anemone for few days is also hosting the anemone. My problem is that, they're fighting over the anemone. What should I do? Are they going to end up sharing the 'nem or not? My new clownfish (which is smaller than my original one) keeps on twitching everytime the other one comes close.

thats a good sign that the new one is twitching. he submitting to the female and they will become a pair soon. signs of trouble are head to head fighting.

its also not a problem if your pair hosts in two different anemones (or frogspawns). They will still be a pair as long as once in a while they are able to establish their bond.

thanks ai3. although they're not hosting two different things. The new clown stopped hosting the frogspawn and is only hosting the anemone now. So both of them are fighting over the anemone I guess. But I think the new one won because he's the one that slept in the anemone, the old one slept under the powerhead I think.

he said the new one was smaller, but it still could have been a female from another group of clowns. Hopefully they will sort it all out and one will be the female and the other will turn into the male. I would have expected the larger, original one to have won the "battle" though, so that is odd. Best of luck and keep us informed as to how it (the battle of the sexes :)) progresses.

:) I think they're getting along fine (knock on wood). The first night the smaller one (it's the newer clown by the way) would follow wherever the bigger one is. Till he found the anemone, now the farthest he'd go is probably 10" away from the anemone. Also this morning I woke up to this...

so hopefully they sorted things out :)

Oh and the new clown doesn't twitch as much anymore, I think I only saw it once so far today. Is that a good sign?

And doesn't it stress the anemone more when the clowns hosts them so much? Just wondering

Thanks

My clowns do the same thing except i have 3 of them will two of them still become a pair? Dont mean to thread steal just curious

Ok, so my clowns sleep together everynight in their anemone. Does that mean they're pair? What other signs shows that clowns paired up successfully?

Thanks

Its a good sign, and it means that they are on their way. Some other signs? Probably rapid growth rate of the female compared to the male, never swimming too far away from each other, minimal aggression by the female toward the male, breeding?

lol i wouldn't mind if they don't breed. as long as they get along, it's fine with me.

AI3 you mentioned rapid growth of the female. how about if the female is already double the size of the male already? because my bigger clown is huge next to my smaller clown.

also my smaller clown is getting darker, is that a good sign? my bigger clown did the same thing because she was also bright yellow when i bought her.

if the female is already double the size of the male, that's fine, because then the male will not challenge her.

as for getting darker, I've found that's more due to nutrition. feed them frozen cyclopeeze if you want a bright red.
