It looks like he has solenoid valves in place to operate the two chemicals at different times. This would work if you added another solenoid valve to clear out the pump with water when neither of the others are open.
For what it's worth, good solenoid valves are very expensive compared to good dosers.
The water needs to flush out the dosing pump. You're top-off line is pressurized it would not be good for this because dosing pumps aren't meant to hands pressure. If you removed thr solenoid from your ATO line and instead fed it to a container with a float valve, you could use the dosing plump to control ATO in conjunction with the solenoid. ATO water would flush the dosing pump.
