2 ppm of NO3 too high for SPS????

Those levels are pretty good but I would bump up the AlK a little bit more. IME, I always try to keep it at the 9dKH range. If your test has a +/- 0.5dkH tolerance, you are now in the range of 6.xdKH. That's a little too low for my comfort.
Bitrate and phosphate are good and nothing to worry about IMO at those levels.

+1 well said.

Those are near perfect in my book. I also run a lower dkh because of carbon dosing. Why do you ask? Keep in mind you can have a successful tank at a wide range of parameters. Anyone that tells you otherwise is ignorant. That said, let your corals tell you what they like;)

your contradicting yourself.......

Your parameters are fine. I would also bump up your alk a bit but if your corals are fine you can keep it as it is. I'm still not sure why but there is a link between alk and nitrates. The higher nitrates the higher Alk and stronger lights you can run. With LNS (super low nitrates and phosphates) system Alk should stay below 9 and strong light can bleach corals.
I'm running my tank at nitrate level close to 7-9ppm and Alk around 10 dkh at 79 degrees. With my tank It gives me best growth rate.

Why do people shoot for 9 dkh?Room for error type of thinking? I've heard excellerated growth. I have never noticed more growth the higher the alk. I have noticed that my color wasn't as good around 9. I also had a harder time keeping it at 9ish. In my tank I try to maintain 7-8 and as long as it's stable I have good growth and color. For some reason my tank just settles in better at that range. I think observing your tank will tell you what's best as long as it's stable.

Higher Alk will not make corals grow faster, there are plenty of tanks with ridiculous growth with Alk values below 7. The ocean is not at a DKH of 9, its much lower.

Average seawater alkalinity is around 7. I don't doubt that you see alkalinity that is higher in the location that you are in, that could be because of dissolution of limestone from land, but its not typical. Here in San Diego, for example, the water is at 8.4DKH

My point was that moving the value up doesn't equal faster growth. If you have seen V1...Rotate's reef, his growth is off the charts and his DKH is below 6 last report I saw. I can barely keep mine above 6 as well and the corals are growing very fast.

There will always be differences...and hence why I said in my first post that the OP is within range.

Also, OP asked about Nitrates...and even with nitrates there are ranges people keep SPS tanks at. But generally, you will find most will keep nitrates below 5ppm.

Are 0 nitrates a bad thing? Following along on this thread but I cant seem to get nitrates to detect on a test. Decent bioload, weekly water changes, fuge and gfo... wondering if I am going to much. Started dosing acro power and within a few days am noticing amazing polyp extension on almost every coral in my tank.

Zero nitrates aren't a bad thing as long as you feed. Nitrate utilization in a reef tank is very complex. My corals actually look their best when nitrates are between 0 and 5ppm. I've always had a large ORA green Acropora millipora and it always looked awful when nitrates were near zero. I never fed my acros, just the fish. Started feeding and the polyps now extend about a half inch and it looks good. An amazing transformation for sure....................Jim

4 ppm of NO3 now..reading from Red Sea NO3 PRO test

4 ppm of NO3 now..reading from Red Sea NO3 PRO test

anyone know 4ppm NO3 is high for red sea test kit

i am running a SPS Dominated tank
KH....7.8dkH
Ca....451
PO4...0.05
NO3...2ppm
what everyone keep there NO3 at?

Every tanks different one level will work for someone and it won't for the next. I've never been able to get rich healthy color with anything short of 10ppm of NO3...
