1. would you quarantine them???? my qt has my clownfish in them

2. so far I only have a small 20g tank. would two shrimps live peacefully together? i cant find anywhere how to determine if they could be mates.

Fireshrimps should be fine within a 20G confinement. Notice LFS usually jam 10 of them in a 10G tank! Anyhow, I would quaranteen anything comes thru local stores just cause you never know what they may carry with them.

They will be 'mates'. this type of shrimp are hermaphrodites(sp?). Meaning that they possess both male and female reproductive organs. So in short any two shrimp form a 'pair' and will spawn.

Regarding Quarintineing them. Quarintenes are things some people swear by and others dont bother with! though personally i fell that if you have chosen to go the quarintine route, you are kinda wasting your time if you dont quarintene everytjhing that goes into the tank.

And yes 2 should be fine in a 20g tank, though do make sure they have hiding places. When they molt they may well eat each other, so will need to hide from each other and other tank mates while doing so.

Becareful with fire shrimp. Any two will not always do, with these guys. While they are PSH they are strongly pair bonded and don't always get along, you'll find parts of a shrimp if they don't hook up. I would suggest you make sure they are a part for a while, week or two. They put them together for a bit, keep an eye on them, make sure on one is missing any parts, don't let them spend the night together on their first date. Can be very bad for the loser.
