2 questions, Ich related, hypo related

1. Is hypo hard on the bio filter? Will it cause a stronger cycle, or longer cycle time?

2. Does anyone know if Stability by Seachem gives false ammoina and nitrite/nitrate readings?

Ok that was three, I can't count.

I would not say that hypo is terribly hard on the biofilter. However, you may see a slow down in the effectiveness of the biofilter while it adjusts to the changed salinity. I believe stability contains live bacteria so I don't see how that would give you false test readings. You should email Seachem and ask them.
Stability is a good idea and I have seen products like that work, but often the shelf life of these type of products is limited. This means the bacteria in the products can be dead by the time you buy it from the store. I keep a cycled Qtank running at all times.

Thanks, I'm new at this so I'm learning the hard way. I do have a post in at seachem's site, and I'm waiting to hear from them. The QT tank is new, so there really is no established bio filter. Been doing 50% water changes twice a day. Ammonia always reads .50. I use prime as well. I know this is high. I have seen a drop in nitrite, and nitrate. Both below .1. But not ammonia.

Doing my best.

You can use Poly Filter (Chem pad) by Poly Bio Marine to help control the ammonia since you are not medicating the water.
