I have been struggling with cal and alk in the pat few months. I think I have finally figured out where I need to be but would like some guidance. I have adjusted my cal and alk up to roughly 400ppm Cal and 3.0Meq/l Alk. If I am on the right path I would believe 420 cal and 3.0 Alk would be a good range to keep my cal/alk. If anyone sees a problem with these parameters please let me know and give me an explaination for why I should change.

On a side note, when my cal and alk were really low, I had a Superman Denae that completely lost its tissue but still has its polyps. What would be the correct course of action to get it to regrow its tissue?

My Ca and alk seems to like to be 390 / 3.4meq/L. Just as long as my CA is over 380 or so I'm happy with it. As far as the monti you have goes, there could be several reasons for this but I know its a very bad thing to let your Ca and Alk get low. I let my alk (by accident) get to 2.4meq/L once and I noticed a huge decline in the coloration of just about ALL of my SPS. I didn't believe alk dips could cause that big of a difference until it happened to me.

Keep the alk/cal/mag inline and stable things should recover over the next month or two. I had an alk/cal imbalance and some sps really took a hit. It has taken having these params on track and stable for 6-8 weeks before I started to see a real improvement. I also run zeo and increased my potassium supplement and this has continued to make things look really awesome. In the end I feel like alk is the big "worry". I keep track of it very closely in my 70g system as any time it has fluctuated my sps have suffered. Hopefully your danae will recover over time.
