Anyone have any success or experience keeping two sohal in one tank? I have a 450 and currently have one and want to andy another.

No way, wouldn't even try it. A 450g is barely enough room for one sohal. They get huge quick, extremely aggressive and territorial and need tons of swimming space. They are an amazing fish though.

The one I have now is about 8". the other one i want to add will be about the same if not a bit larger. Was told that these probably wont get much bigger in captivity.
i have two 5" hippos, two 6" yellow tangs, 5" goldflake angel, 9-10" naso, 8" green wrasse. I'm sure i forgot one or two smaller guys.
They are all currently model citizens with no issues with each other...

Agree with the others, the new Sohoal will get beat up. Also he, along with the tangs you already have, WILL get big.
I don't understand why people still beleive that by putting a fish in a small tank will make it somehow not grow. :uhoh3:
My last Naso, that was about 10 years old when he died, was 13" plus his streamers, in a 400G tank. My Vlamangi was about the same size when I gave him to a guy with a 1000G tank. They wern't near that big when I first got them.

Its reef mixed reef. nothing special in there yet. All my corals are house in my 125 refugium within the system. I'm not concern with fish load or bioload, at least not yet. The system is about 700gal and will be able to handle the waste. In terms of swimming space, there is plenty of space for swimming. The list might sound large, but the tank is fairly empty (even with these fish being very active)
only reason i asked is because someone from our local forum is selling the sohal and I can get enough of the one I have
I'm sure I'll be adding more tangs over the next couple of months, but was hoping to add the sohal.

I had this list of fish together for a little over 2 year and never had any problem. System is about 6 yrs old

I've only ever seen multiple in giant public aquariums.
Your biggest issue with this tang or any other tang addation will be the fact that the Sohoal you currently have is already estabilished and will possibly attack any new additions.
I just recently add a 6" Sohoal to my current tank with a 10" Blonde Naso and a 6" Alantic blue. They get along fine but adding another tang is now out of the question now that the sohoal is extabilished.

If you still plan to add - I would try to find a large critter container or other clear acrylic chamber where you could drill (or use soldering iron to poke) holes in it. Then put fish in the chamber for a few days so other fish in tank can see it, but can't get to it. This is how I have added many fish to my 215 over the years.

Too late, it sold, but I still want to give it a try the next time I get a chance.
Craig, that's a good idea, at least see how they will react.
I not in to harm any livestock, but if I do decide to give it a try, I will be monitoring them closely before letting them fight to death.

How about an achilles? An adult achilles looks amazing in a reef tank.
I like to setup my rockwork so that I am able to split or section the tank off with egg crate. Then I throw the eggcrate in when I add new fish or when there is major agression between 2 fish.

IMO it is good that you didn't add it.
Adding a second sohal could drastically change your tank dynamics to the point where your existing sohal begins to kill your other fish including the new sohal which would be killed first, I would not risk it.
And if you still insist on trying, you should try 2 that are significantly different sizes.

A tank in Vegas had 2 or 3 and they chased each other a bit this tank was at least 30 feet long. I wouldn't do it
