2 x 150 HQI

In what regards, too much light or not enought? I would say it is fine either way you look at it. it is enought light and I dont beleive in too much light.

I just wanted to know if it would be enough to keep a clam successfully. From your posting, I gathered it would be fine.

I have 1000W on a 55 and my clams are at most 6" under the water I would slowly increase light over a few days. dont light shock the clam.

Wow that is alot of light, how do you deal with all that heat? I don't have any clams currently, I was just wondering if running 2 x 150watt HQI's would be o.k. for keeping them.

The two 150s should be fine in most scenarios. Which clam are you considering? They do have different lighting needs, so keep that in mind when choosing and placing the clam.

I have and open top tank with pendant lights and 2 X VHO lights I suspended next to them not much heat gets to the water and o yah its winter out.

I've got the same set up. I have a outer Orbit with 2 x 150 w HQI 14k PHx and 2 x 39 w T5's and I have 1 Maxima, 1 Ultra Max, 3 Crocia (1 Raised/ 2 on the floor) 1 Squas. - I've had in the past Deresa that grew to 6" and a Gigas that ended up being 12" - it ended up being way to big, but lights are plenty adequate. Good Luck
